List of funding sources for open access books1

An increasing number of publishers will provide you with options for publishing your book open access. As a way of addressing the issue of funding, you may be required to pay a fee prior to publication. An increasing number of institutional and research funders are making funds available to cover these costs.

There is a variety of different approaches, with regard to funding, that allow you to publish your book open access. For example, you may be required to pay a book processing charge (BPC) or, for individual chapters, a chapter processing charge (CPC).

To cover these costs, an increasing number of Research Performing Organisations and Research Funding Organisations are making available funds for their author communities dedicated to open access book publishing.

The Editorial Advisory Board of this toolkit has compiled a list of funding sources for open access books worldwide which will be regularly updated.
